Ordinance n. 44/2020 of the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) revised norms relating to concession, use and closure of the Drawback special customs regime. Resulting from a public consultation that ended in April, the initiative simplifies bureaucratic procedures and aims at expanding and diversifying national exports

The main update on the Drawback regime is a new approach on concession and control, based on operational quantities rather than values, avoiding currency related fluctuations on input or final product prices that cause non-compliance with the regime. It also grants eligibility to production processes undertaken in Brazil regardless of value added.Ordinance n. 44/2020 also updated the arrangement of different rules on three categories (suspension, exemption and atypical regimes) and consolidated the export processes review employed by the Single Foreign Trade Portal Program.
