Act n. 60/2020 of the Department of Plant Health and Agricultural Inputs at the Secretariat for Agricultural Defense (SDA/MAPA) introduced the registration of 16 crop protection products, all of which use active ingredients previously registered in the country. Their registration seeks to promote market competitiveness while undergoing analysis and approval processes by the respective health, environmental and agricultural authorities.

Among the 16 registered products on Act n. 60/2020, three are biological products composed of microorganisms, one of which resulting from the combination of two biological agents, the first registration of such product. The use of biological or biochemical control agents in product formulation represents a control alternative for farmers in combating pests, while increasing the sustainability of national agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) reinforces that all registered products were also analyzed and approved by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), according to scientific criteria and in line with the best international practices.

Altogether, 63 products considered of low impact (biological and organic) were registered in 2020.
