Act n. 55/2020 of the Department of Plant Health and Agricultural Inputs at the Secretariat for Agricultural Defense (SDA/MAPA) introduced the registration of 31 crop protection products, all of which use active ingredients previously registered in the country. Their registration seeks to promote market competitiveness while undergoing analysis and approval processes by the respective health, environmental and agricultural authorities.

Among the 31 registered products on Act n. 55/2020, most active ingredients are already registered in the United States, Europe and Australia and four are biological products composed of microorganisms. Products that use biological or biochemical control agents in their formulation are control alternatives for farmers in combating pests, while contributing to increasing the sustainability of national agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) reinforces that all registered products were also analyzed and approved by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable

Natural Resources (IBAMA) and the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), according to scientific criteria and in line with the best international practices.

Altogether, 60 products considered of low impact (biological and organic) were registered in 2020.
